WELCOME TO THE HOOD RIVER -WHITE SALMON INTERSTATE BRIDGE
This vital economic link connecting the communities of Hood River and White Salmon has been owned and operated by the Port of Hood River since 1950, 26 years after the Oregon-Washington Bridge Company constructed it. Since that time, the Port has invested millions in the structure to keep the transportation flowing safely between the communities. The Toll Plaza Improvement project, completed in 2007, implemented an electronic toll collection system called BreezeBy (click to download application/forms) for frequent commuters. BreezeBy bypass lanes are for electronic tolling only. All others must drive through the center Toll Plaza lanes.
Motorist information: Toll is generally $ .75 per axle (car, van, non-dual pickup); motorcycles are $ .50. Bicycles and pedestrians are not allowed on the bridge due to the narrow width.
This is a very NARROW bridge. The width of a lane from center is 9 feet, 10-3/4 inches. The width of a lane between the edge of the centerline stripe to the face of the bridge guardrail is 9 feet, 4-3/4 inches. Large RVs are advised to cross at Cascade Locks or The Dalles. The height restriction is 14 feet 7 inches.
Vessels needing a bridge lift need to call the toll house
at least 24 hours in advance: (541)386-3500. Clearance varies
with the Bonneville Pool elevation levels. When closed the
vertical waterway clearance is no higher than 67 ft (20m)
increasing to 148 ft (45 m) when the bridge is open, which
typically happens once or twice a month. The horizontal waterway
clearance of the lift span is 246 ft (75 m).
