Non Revenue Bridge Policy
Port
of Hood River
Hood River-White Salmon Interstate Bridge
Statement
of Policy Regarding Non-Revenue Passage
February 2003
Updated: April 7, 2009
It is the policy of the Port of Hood River to issue non-revenue
toll tickets or transponder credit for police, fire, and ambulance
vehicles crossing the bridge in response to life, safety,
and health emergencies or for a limited number of crossings
by police, fire or ambulance vehicles when personnel are conducting
official business. Crossings that are compensated by insurance
or other payment do not qualify for non-revenue tickets or
credit.
Emergency responders will not be required to stop at the toll house when lights and/or sirens are activated during an emergency response.
Non-revenue bridge tickets or transponder credit issued by the Port for police, fire and emergency vehicle crossings shall not be used for personal use.
Active-duty military persons will be eligible for non-revenue crossing for the purpose of reporting for duty. Order papers must be submitted at the Port office to obtain tickets or transponder credit.
To obtain non-revenue tickets or transponder credit, public safety agencies must submit a written letter request annually in January. The request must include the type and number of vehicles anticipated to be used, reason for crossing and expected number of annual trips. Based on the submitted information, the Executive Director may approve an annual allotment of tickets or transponder credit. If that supply is exhausted within, additional tickets or transponder credit must be purchased. Emergency response agencies will be provided a maximum of six transponders annually at no charge. Additional transponders must be purchased.
Only official Port of Hood River non-revenue tickets or transponder credit may be used at the toll plaza unless emergency response conditions exist as described above.
The Port of Hood River reserves the right to request an accounting of non-revenue ticket usage by agencies.
